About Holy Angels Academy:

Holy Angels is a private, independent co-ed Catholic school serving students from 3-year-old Preschool through Grade Twelve. Special Education Coordinator Purpose:

The Special Education Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Headmaster, develops, implements, and coordinates special education services for students and families that receive special education.

Responsibilities:

A. Assist in determining program needs and procedures.

B. Coordinate and monitor special education programming e.g. early childhood special education and K-12 special education

C. Assist in the development and implementation of program goals and objectives

D. Ensure special education due process compliance following State and Federal rules and regulations

E. Provide leadership in the selection and implementation of evidence based curriculum and instruction for students with disabilities

F. Provide information, resources, and technical assistance to support students in the least restrictive environments.

G. Write accommodation plans and collaborate with parents and teachers in creating and executing the plan.

H. Provide teachers with support & strategies to use in the classroom to support behavior & academic needs.

I. Assist students one on one or in small groups to provide tutoring or further explicit instruction.

J. Research and share different strategies that would benefit students and their needs.

K. Give students tools to be more independent in the classroom.

L. Help provide families with behavior and/or academic resources for use outside of school.

M. Work collaboratively with building teams to continuously develop and revise program needs

N. Monitor and provide feedback for special education program improvement

O. Perform other duties as assigned or requested including attending professional development and meetings.

Qualifications: 

Passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church and the mission of Holy Angels Academy.
Bachelor Degree in Special Education or related area
Appropriate Teaching Licensure in Special Education
Experience teaching in the special education field. Knowledge of special education issues, educational research based instructional practices, especially in the areas of literacy, math, and behavior.
Ability to use discretion, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively communicate, both in verbal and written form, with students, staff, parents, and community members.
