Prayers for Phoenix Priests

Your prayers are urgently needed…

In a viscious robbery attempt at Mater Misercordiea Church in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday night, Fr. Kenneth Walker, F.S.S.P. was shot and killed and Fr. Joseph Terra, F.S.S.P. was severely beaten. Despite his critical injuries, Fr. Terra called 911 and administered the last rites to Fr. Walker.

Most recently, Fr. Terra’s condition has been upgraded from critical to stable.

Fr. Terra has been serving as pastor of Mater Misercordiea Church, a mission of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter since the mission’s founding four years ago. Fr Walker, 28, ordained in 2012, was parochial vicar at Mater Misercordiea.

We, at NAPCIS, all know Fr. Terra as a valuable friend, a trusted member of the NAPCIS Council of Scholars; a beloved, personal friend of many NAPCIS schools. Since arriving in Phoenix, the folks at Ville de Marie Academy have come to know and love Fr. Terra, who frequently celebrates Mass at the school.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Kenneth Walker and his family as they suffer this tremendous loss; and please pray for the complete and speedy recovery of Fr. Terra. Remember in your prayers, also, Fr. Terra’s family and his parishioners as they anxiously await Fr. Terra’s return to his loving and devoted service to Jesus and His Church.
