School Summary

The Good Shepherd Academy is an independent, coeducational school for grades K-12. Founded by parents as primary educators, we seek to form students that know, love, and serve God through a rigorous classical education based on the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. Frequent reception of the sacraments and developing a reverence for the Holy Mass to fortify their faith in Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the foundation of our program.

The education of children is, in the first place, the responsibility of their parents (Catechism of the Catholic church 2221, 2223). Parents have the right, and the duty, to choose a school that corresponds to their own convictions (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2229). In furtherance of this right, and in fulfillment of this duty, a group of parents formed The Good Shepherd Academy. The Board of Directors has adopted a Statement of Purpose as its guiding principles to enable parents considering the school to understand our convictions, our curriculum, our culture, and the capabilities that we seek to foster in our students.

The Good Shepherd Academy will use the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd religion program. Academic formation will be achieved by imparting authentic Catholic principles through a classical liberal arts curriculum. Introducing young minds to classical literature from the greatest thinkers of Western Civilization, the history of the Founding Fathers of our Country, along with mathematics, history, geography, science, English and fine arts. Teaching methods are directed toward developing memory, sound reasoning, and communication skills in keeping with the natural stages of childhood intellectual development.
