Part-Time Music Teacher Purpose:

The Music Teacher, under the general supervision of the Headmaster, advises on and implements the music curriculum, teaching students across grade levels. The Music Teacher fosters a love of music, nurturing creativity, discipline, and an appreciation for the arts while developing students’ musical talents and understanding. This role requires the teacher to inspire students in both individual and group settings, incorporating performance, theory, and appreciation of diverse musical genres while maintaining a vibrant and supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and implement the music curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school’s mission and values. Create a dynamic and engaging music program that fosters a love for music and the arts in students.
Teach music across various grade levels, developing students’ musical abilities through individual and group instruction. Provide opportunities for students to perform and express their musical creativity.
Monitor and assess students’ progress in music, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Provide constructive feedback to help students grow musically and personally.
Establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures in the music classroom, creating a positive and respectful environment for learning. Encourage a culture of discipline, focus, and collaboration among students.
Implement a variety of teaching methods, adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including differentiated lessons for students of varying skill levels.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the administration, including organizing and assisting with music-related events such as concerts, Christmas Program, recitals, May Crowning, or school Masses.

Qualifications: 

Fidelity to Catholic Teachings: Passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church, embracing and promoting the mission of Holy Angels Academy.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field is preferred, but not required. Alternatively, demonstrated mastery of music theory, performance, and teaching abilities will be considered.
Experience: Experience teaching music, whether in a classroom, private lessons, or group settings, is preferred but not required.
Classroom Management: Ability to establish clear expectations and create a positive, disciplined classroom environment conducive to student learning.
Sound Judgment & Discretion: Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive situations with discretion.
Catholic Faith Integration: Ability to integrate Catholic teachings and values into the music curriculum and activities, encouraging students to view music as a form of worship and artistic expression.
Background Check & Safety Training: Must complete all Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program requirements, including background checks and child protection training.
