Athletic Director Purpose:

Holy Angels Academy is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled, Athletic Director to oversee the development and management of the school’s athletic and extracurricular programs. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated leader who understands the importance of athletics in the development of young people and who is committed to upholding the values of the Catholic faith in all aspects of the athletic program.  The athletic director will coordinate all aspects of the athletic program, including recruiting and overseeing volunteer coaches, securing facilities for practices and games, ensuring compliance with league regulations and the Archdiocesan Safe Environment program, while promoting and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students. This role requires a strong understanding of Catholic teachings, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for providing students with a well-rounded, Christ-centered education through sports.

Responsibilities:

Program Management: Oversee all athletic and extracurricular activities, ensuring they align with the school’s Catholic values and mission. Promote a positive atmosphere where students grow in both faith and physical development.
Recruitment & Supervision of Coaches: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer coaches who demonstrate strong Catholic character and a commitment to the spiritual, emotional, and physical development of students. Ensure that all coaches adhere to Archdiocesan guidelines and uphold Catholic principles both on and off the field.
Facility Management: Secure rental facilities for athletic games, practices, and events as needed. Coordinate logistics with local venues to ensure the proper use and maintenance of facilities.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all activities comply with local league regulations, school policies, and the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program. Monitor background checks and safe environment training for all coaches and volunteers.
Training & Development: Oversee and ensure that all coaches receive proper training in safety procedures, first aid, and CPR, as well as ongoing professional development. Coordinate regular coaching meetings to promote best practices in both coaching and mentorship.
Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and maintain the athletic calendar, or assist individual coaches in doing so, including practices, games, and events. Work with parents, students, and the community to ensure clear communication about schedules and program updates.
Fundraising & Budgeting: Assist with fundraising efforts and manage the athletic program’s budget, ensuring proper allocation of resources for uniforms, equipment, and other necessary supplies.
Catholic Identity: Promote the integration of faith into athletics by encouraging coaches and students to reflect on the role of sports in developing virtue, teamwork, and service to others. Lead and support the planning of faith-based activities, such as prayer before and after games (e.g., The Saint Michael the Archangel Prayer, imploring the intercession of St. Sebastian – Patron of Athletes – etc.), retreats, or service projects.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or requested, including attending professional development and meetings.

Qualifications:

Fidelity to the Church: Must be passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church and the mission of Holy Angels Academy.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Experience Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in sports administration, coaching, or a related field. Experience in a Catholic school or faith-based setting is strongly preferred.
Skills: Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, budgets, and timelines efficiently. Knowledge of safety standards, league regulations, and best practices in sports coaching.
Certifications: Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to complete training). Additional coaching certifications are a plus.
Moral Character: Strong moral character and the ability to inspire and mentor young athletes.
Collaboration: A team player with a collaborative spirit, able to work well with faculty, parents, students, and the broader community.
Passion for Physical Health & Teamwork: Passion for promoting physical health, teamwork, and good sportsmanship in the context of the Catholic faith.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a calm and level-headed approach to managing the challenges of an athletic program.
Background Check: Must complete all Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program requirements, including background checks and child protection training.
